A Special Intro from Andi...Those of you who've been part of the Studio 16 experience for a while know that we have ALWAYS been looking find ways to reduce the footprint we have on the planet in an industry that always has the potential to do a lot of harm. As you may know, one of the biggest reasons we committed to being an AVEDA salon was exactly for this reason - they are constantly innovating in regards to eliminating animal testing, using vegan ingredients, recycling packaging and reducing the resources needed to create it, and more. It's a problem for the whole industry (and every other industry too of course!), which means we can always do MORE.

It’s just about every woman’s fantasy to have a full head of hair like the models in magazines or actresses on television.
The truth is though, that very few of us are born with those luscious locks. And if you are lucky to have a thick, full mane, there’s a chance you may not keep it forever. According to the Cleveland Clinic, more than 50% of women experience noticeable hair loss, equalling about 30 million women in the US alone. It’s been a hot and sweaty summer for just about the entire United States, but Fall is just around the corner. That means a lot of things, but for those who are as hair-obsessed as we are, it means it’s time to say goodbye to the ponytails and messy buns and say hello to experimenting with style and texture again. It also means the hair industry is already living in 2023, and they have ideas!
If you’re looking to spice things up for the Fall, here are a selection of SOME of the biggest trends we see coming that are also accessible to most of us who aren't looking for a one-time seasonal look. You may have recently heard beauty influencers promote a new type of facials: gua sha.
In fact, Gua sha isn’t new at all! Gua sha, which means “to scrape away illness” has roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and has been around for thousands of years. According to the principles of TCM, your qi (or energy) needs to continually flow through your body to keep you feeling your best. Stagnant qi is believed to cause health problems. Gua sha supposedly moves "qi" to help improve circulation and promote healing. As of last year, the hashtag #guasha had accumulated more than 432 million views on TikTok. So why have gua sha facials seen this surge in popularity and what can they do for you? If there is one thing that became apparent during the pandemic, it’s that good stylists are hard to come by! As you may have heard me mention if you spent any time in my chair in the past year or two, over one MILLION stylists left the industry.
