Green Circle Salons
At Studio 16, we have two things we care deeply about: helping you look and feel your best and maintaining an environmentally responsible salon in the process.
Why is sustainability such an important topic in the beauty industry? Because our industry creates about 877 lbs of industry waste a minute.
That’s why we are proud to partner with Green Circle Salons, an organization dedicated to creating and supporting salons on a mission to lower their environmental impact. Green Circle Salons helps salons offset emissions and recover up to 95% of waste, including materials that were previously difficult to recycle or impossible to recover, such as hair clippings, extra hair color, and foils.
Through our partnership, Studio 16 can save the following waste from landfills and waterways:
Here’s how it works: Waste from Studio 16 is sent to the team at Green Circle Salons who then works with waste partners to find ways to recycle and repurpose it. For example:
We are proud to be one of only two salons in Eastern Washington to partner with Green Circle Salons in ensuring our commitment to giving you the best salon experience also keeps the earth clean.

Through our partnership, Studio 16 can save the following waste from landfills and waterways:
- 188 lbs of excess color
- 553 lbs of hair clippings
- 458 lbs of metal
- 843 lbs of paper
- 670 lbs of plastic
- 211 lbs of single-use items like waxing strips and cotton swabs
Here’s how it works: Waste from Studio 16 is sent to the team at Green Circle Salons who then works with waste partners to find ways to recycle and repurpose it. For example:
- Excess hair color can be separated into water and oil. The water can be cleaned and returned to the water system, while the oil can be used as fuel.
- Hair clippings can be turned into bio-composite plastic to make new products such as recycling bins. They can also be turned into mats that are being used to help clean up oil spills!
- Metal such as foils and aerosol cans can be melted down into aluminum sheets or bars and then used to make new products like car parts.
- Single-use items can be used in a waste-to-energy process, being used as renewable energy.
